Hudson - Meet Your Previous Driver - Lola Langford

Updated: 2 days ago

This week is a bit different as we are highlighting a longtime driver who we lost as she passed away mid September of this year. Lola did submit her "Meet Your Driver" sheet and we wanted to share what she wanted people to know about her as well as some notes by fellow Safeway staff. We all miss Lola dearly around here at Safeway.

Here is what she shared with us:

Lola drove route #321 and says she loved spending time transporting her students and getting to know them. She lived in Hudson and thought it was a great place to live. Lola loved to shop at the local shops in Hudson and says it helped her feel connected to the community here. She was interested in reading as well as taking walks. Lola loved the kids on her bus like they were her own and it was obvious to the children, their families, and her colleagues at Safeway. Lola married to her husband John Langford and had 6 children, 2 step children, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grand children. She was very proud of the legacy she had built.

Lola was beyond loved at Safeway. As she grew older, we even gave her her own assigned front row parking spot with her name on it at the Hudson terminal so she didn't have to walk as far in the winter. Lola accepted the parking spot for a few days before she said she "didn't want to have something that nobody else had". Even at 85 and with her cane she was a determined lady, and that's the kind of woman she was. She was a bright light in the office everyday and was adored by families and children alike.

Thank you Lola for being a shining light at Safeway for so long. We miss you everyday!
